Flying Through Fire

A story about how Oregon Wildfires and Recovery have changed the lives of birds

Dan and Barbara Gleason are lifelong bird enthusiasts who have been married for 30 years. Dan is a retired ornithology professor who taught at the University of Oregon for more than three decades, while Barbara has been an avid birder for most of her life. Together, they now own and operate two Wild Birds Unlimited stores in Eugene. We met with the couple, and their dog Aldi, a goldendoodle, in Amazon Park to hear about how wildfires in the Willamette Valley have impacted local bird species.
